”Transport and distribution of cyclic peptides at the BBB and inside the brain – which ones to use as scaffolds for drug delivery”

Cyclic peptides have been proposed as good scaffolds for drug delivery to the brain due to their stability in vivo and their cell penetrating properties. The blood-brain barrier (BBB) however has special features that may or may not complicate their delivery to the brain. This seminar will cover brain drug delivery of the two peptides SFTI-1 and kalata B1, including methods on how to measure both their BBB transport and their intra-brain cell penetration. The results will show their ability as scaffolds for treating brain diseases and the importance of measuring several aspects of their distribution.
